Purpose of the Study Programme

The primary purpose of the master’s academic studies program, International Teacher Education Program, is to train highly professional teaching staff for work in schools, with a special focus on readiness to work in international and multicultural environments. The study program involves enhancing and developing general academic and subject-specific competencies, in line with previously completed undergraduate studies and the elective areas offered by the program (teaching methodology for language and literature, STEAM education, teaching methodology for mathematics and natural sciences for young learners, teaching methodology for music, visual arts, teaching methodology of physical education, educational leadership, and intercultural education).

Only competent teachers can contribute to improving teaching methods in such an environment, as well as to enhancing the status of teachers, schools, and education within society, and to providing high-quality education for new generations. This represents the long-term purpose of this program.

The purpose of developing this master’s program is to educate teachers who will:

  • derive from current scientific knowledge about the teaching profession;
  • respect the existing international context of teacher education and the needs arising from it;
  • align with the general regulations of international teacher education, emphasizing teachers’ professional, pedagogical, psychological, and collaborative competencies;
  • align with modern teacher education programs in an international context and meet the demands set for teacher education in relevant international documents;
  • include competencies for work in other institutional and non-institutional forms of education.

The purpose of the study program, defined in this way, directly derives from the goals and objectives of the higher education institution, which are focused on educating highly professional educational staff and encouraging students in effective learning, participation in research, and the continuous development of professional competencies.
