Competencies of Graduated Students
By mastering the МА in International Teacher Education Program (MITEP), students acquire the following general competencies:
- The ability to thoroughly study educational theories and practices based on systematic understanding and critical reflection of information;
- The ability to connect information, draw conclusions based on incomplete or limited information, and tackle complex educational problems;
- The ability to independently apply acquired knowledge, develop new ideas and solutions in a new or unfamiliar environment, within a broader interdisciplinary and international context of educational work;
- The ability to clearly and unambiguously present and justify one’s own decisions and solutions to professionals and non-professionals (students, parents/guardians, etc.);
- The ability to contemplate the social and ethical consequences and responsibilities in the international environment associated with one’s own decisions and solutions;
- The ability to pursue further professional development autonomously.
By completing the Master’s International Teacher Education Program, students acquire the following subject-specific competences:
- Understanding the roles and responsibilities of teachers and the factors influencing their fulfillment;
- Understanding the basic characteristics of the cognitive, social, and affective development of school-aged children and how schooling and teachers can contribute to student development in an international environment;
- Understanding the nature and relationship of learning and teaching within an international context;
- Understanding educational and upbringing issues in light of different international educational concepts;
- Use of advanced methods in acquiring knowledge and professional practice;
- Applying professional ethics values in a broader international context;
- Demonstrating motivation and abilities for independent professional development.
Learning outcomes
MITEP teacher will be able to:
- Plan and implement educational work based on understanding contemporary teaching and education models;
- Create conditions for the comprehensive development of all students in an international environment;
- Use teaching methods, models, and strategies that are consistent with the goals, outcomes, and contents of education;
- Fosters motivation and ensures active learning and collaboration;
- Respects, supports, and enhances individual and cultural differences and characteristics within the international context;
- Monitors the teaching process and assesses student progress using various types and techniques of assessment;
- Identifies and investigates problems in educational practice and actively engages in their resolution;
- Collaborates with all relevant actors and stakeholders in the educational process (colleagues, students, parents, the local community, and international actors involved in the work of a specific school) in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities;
- Uses a foreign language in everyday professional work and further development;
Explore models of professional development for teachers and career development opportunities and has an active and responsible attitude towards personal development and the development of the school.
